Student Organizations

With more than 1,400 student organizations at Ohio State, students have a wide range of opportunities to get involved. Many of these student organizations have a focus on spreading kindness, serving the community and their fellow Buckeyes.

The Boo Radley Society

The organization’s mission is to maintain a positive atmosphere everywhere they go, spread smiles and perform random acts of kindness while inspiring others to do the same.

The Ohio Staters, Inc.

Staters are thinkers, believers and doers in and about The Ohio State University. They are a student, faculty and staff service organization committed to enhancing the university through projects. These projects promote the welfare or the traditions of The Ohio State University.

BuckeyeThon at The Ohio State University

The mission of BuckeyeThon is to create awareness and raise funds for children with cancer. As an official program of the Office of Student Life at The Ohio State University, BuckeyeThon focuses on children being treated in the Hematology/Oncology/BMT Unit at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. BuckeyeThon works to achieve this mission through programs, which enhance the student experience; promote the value of philanthropy; establish a spirit of service; and cultivate relationships between students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Sorority and Fraternity Life

Ohio State sorority and fraternity chapters partner with national and local service and philanthropic partners to support their community, raise funds for a variety of causes and champion the causes these partners promote. The impact of sorority and fraternity citizens can be felt not only here in Columbus, but across the country.

Dunn Sport and Wellness Scholars (DSWS)

The Dunn Sport and Wellness Scholars (DSWS) program is a living and learning community of first and second-year students focused on providing opportunities for these students to build well-being and leadership skills. DSWS students cumulatively provide over 2,400 volunteer hours annually. Some examples of volunteer efforts include planting trees and collecting liter in local communities, volunteering in Ohio State hospitals and being a top fundraising team for BuckeyeThon.
