Kindness In Action - Food Insecure Packing Service Project

October 6, 2021

On October 12, hundreds of The Ohio State University students, staff and alumni will gather to pack 175,000 meals in two hours with the help of the Office of Student Life, the Department of Athletics, the College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES), Ohio State University Extension, the Center for HumanKindness, Coca-Cola and Kids Around the World

This crazy-fun, high-energy, high-impact feed-the-funnel party will be the first back since the COVID-19 pandemic. The meals will be distributed this year with the help of OSU Extension and our football equipment tractor-trailer to non-profit organizations in the Mahoning Valley/Youngstown area. According to the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC), Youngstown is the second most food-insecure county in the United States. This service project is part of Urban October – Celebrating Ohio Cities. For more information about Urban October, please visit the OSU Extension website.

Keep an eye on the Office of Student Life's social media accounts (@StudentLifeOSU) to see the service project and distribution in action!
